Based in New York, Mary Simpson and Fionn Meade have been collaborating on film and video works since 2005. Simpson is originally from the Matanuska-Susitna Valley, Alaska, and received her MFA in Visual Arts from Columbia University in 2009. She attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, 2007, and will be participating in the Whitney Independent Study Program in 2009. Her studio practice also includes painting, drawing, sculpture, and printmaking. Originally from Vashon Island, WA, Meade is also a writer and curator whose work appears in Artforum, Parkett, Bidoun, BOMB, and The Fillip Review, among other publications. Recent independent curatorial projects include Degrees of Remove: Landscape & Affect, co-curated with Sarina Basta at SculptureCenter, NY; Entr’acte, a group exhibition at the Center for Curatorial Studies, Bard College, NY: and Bivouac, a guest-curated exhibition at Vox Populi, Philadelphia, PA. Meade is also Curator at SculptureCenter, NY. He received his MA from the Center for Curatorial Studies, Bard College, and holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Columbia University. Simpson and Meade have recently shown their work at Seattle Art Museum, Art Basel Miami’s Film and Video Program, Elizabeth Dee Gallery, and NW Film Forum among other venues.
